Gustavo Noel Norato, age 36, of Waynesboro, was arrested on Saturday, August 22nd on drug and gun charges following a traffic stop. Deputy Tyler McKenzie filed a report stating that he performed a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by Norato on Old Highway 64 East for crossing double yellow lines. Deputy McKenzie stated that after speaking with Norato for a few minutes, he asked him to step out of the vehicle, at which time a syringe allegedly fell out of Norato’s pocket. Before stepping out of the vehicle, Norato told Deputy McKenzie that he had a gun holstered on his belt, and complied with the officer’s instructions to unholster the gun, remove the magazine, and place the gun on the seat of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was subsequently performed by Deputy McKenzie, and he allegedly discovered approximately 4.9 grams of methamphetamine located inside a baby shoe hanging from the rearview mirror. Norato was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine for resale, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $135,000.00 bond.
