Freda Renee Box Arrested for Abuse of Elderly/Vulnerable Adult

   Freda Renee Box, age 52, of Cypress Inn, was arrested on Friday, August 7^th on a charge of abuse of elderly or vulnerable adult. Investigator Matt Retherford filed a report stating that he was dispatched to 114 Berry Lane in Cypress Inn to conduct a welfare check on Shirley Jeannette Faires, who suffers from dementia. Inv. Retherford’s report stated that Ms. Faires’ bed was infested with fleas and roaches, as was the rest of the home. There was allegedly dog feces on Ms. Faires’ bed, and throughout the home as well. Ms. Faires’ fingernails were allegedly broken, and her toenails had not been trimmed and were beginning to curl under her toes. Ms. Faires’ bed was also allegedly covered in urine. The home was found to have no running water. Freda Renee Box has allegedly been living in the home with Ms. Faires since November of 2019. Box was arrested and booked into the Wayne County Jail on $100,000.00 bond.
