Florence Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Including Assault and Meth

   Michael Paul Emerson, age 44, of Florence, AL, was arrested on Monday, March 6, 2023 following a traffic stop.

A warrant for Emerson’s arrest was issued on June 23, 2018, on a charge of simple assault. Deputy Shannon Adams filed a report at that time stating that Emerson allegedly assaulted and made verbal threats toward Kenneth Andrew Box when Box entered a mobile home previously rented by Emerson.

On Monday, March 6, 2023, Officer Darren Pounders of the Waynesboro Police Department performed a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by Emerson after he allegedly observed Emerson traveling without wearing a seatbelt. While on the traffic stop, dispatch informed Officer Pounders that there was an outstanding warrant for Emerson’s arrest on the assault charge from 2018. When Officer Pounders searched Emerson before placing him in the patrol vehicle, he allegedly discovered a bag containing approximately 1.3 grams of methamphetamine in Emerson’s pocket. It was also discovered that Emerson’s driver’s license was suspended, and he had allegedly altered the expiration date on the vehicle’s license plate. It addition to the simple assault charge, Emerson was also charged with driving on a suspended license, altering or forging a title or plates, and possession of schedule II methamphetamine with intent to resale, manufacture or deliver.

Emerson was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $90,000.00 bond.
