Jesse Marion Price, age 35, of Florence, Alabama, was arrested on drug charges on Friday, August 7th. Deputy Austin Lanier filed a report stating that he attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle in which Price was a passenger for a non-functioning tag light, but the driver did not stop and attempted to evade Dep. Lanier. While in pursuit of the vehicle, Dep. Lanier allegedly observed Price throw something out of the vehicle’s window. The vehicle ultimately attempted to drive through the woods and hit a tree, at which time the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. When Price, the passenger, was pulled from the vehicle, a bag containing 3.8 grams of methamphetamine allegedly fell from his lap. Lying on the driver’s seat was 0.5 grams of heroin, and another bag containing 0.5 grams of methamphetamine. When Deputy Lanier and Deputy Michael Byrd went back to search the area where something was thrown out of the vehicle, they allegedly located another bag containing 1.1 grams of methamphetamine, a broken set of scales, a needle and syringe, and a small spoon. Price was arrested on charges of possession of schedule II methamphetamine with intent, possession of schedule I heroin with intent, and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $160,000.00 bond.
