The season for Christmas parades will kick off on Saturday, December 7th, with Waynesboro’s annual Rotary Christmas Parade, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “For God So Loved the World.” The parade will once again feature beautifully decorated floats, with trophies awarded for Best Church Float, Best Municipal Float, and Best Business Float. Antique cars will also be featured, with a trophy awarded to Best Car in Show. One slight change this year is that only 4-wheeled side-by-side ATVs will be allowed, and they must be decorated. The Wayne County High School Marching Band will play favorite Christmas songs as they march along the parade route, and Santa Claus will make his annual appearance in the parade to the delight of the young and the young-at-heart. Lineup for the parade will be at 5:00 p.m. in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot, and the parade will make its way through town, around the square, and down Main Street to Wayne County High School.

The Collinwood Christmas Parade will be held this year on Sunday, December 8th at 2:00 p.m., with lineup at 1:00. The theme for the Collinwood parade is “Wonderland in the Wood.” The Grand Marshal for this year’s Collinwood Christmas parade is Collinwood City Manager Gary Victory, who will be joined by his wife Vickie. The Collinwood Post 254 Color Guard will lead the parade, and the CHS Marching Band will follow. The Collinwood Beautification Board, hosts of the parade, promise another great parade this year with floats, horses, cars, tractors, and lots of other participants to make the parade a memorable one once again. Trophies will be awarded in different categories, and the Beautification Board encourages businesses and organizations to decorate floats to enter in the competition. Santa Claus himself will once again make an appearance in the Collinwood parade as he travels to Wayne County from the North Pole to see who has been naughty or nice!      The City of Clifton will be participating in the Christmas festivities with their annual “Stroll Through Christmas” on Saturday, December 14th from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Main Street in the beautiful river city will be beautifully decorated, with different themes and skits at the businesses throughout town. The Stribling Museum will be open from 3:00-5:00 p.m., along with Open Houses at the Pillow Street Bed & Breakfast and the Commodore Inn. The Main Street activities will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the sights and sounds on Main Street, shop with local merchants, and visit historic homes before ending the night with a Candlelight Service and Community Singing at the Presbyterian Church at 7:00 p.m.

Wayne Countians, along with any out-of-towners who want to see great parades and Christmas activities, are invited to all the Christmas events being held around our county during the holiday season.
