The March 31 tornado cut a path of destruction through Wayne County, leaving many residents displaced and in need of housing and basic living supplies. Donations have poured in, which is wonderful and much appreciated, but the affected families need a long-term plan for recovery.
A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Center is NOW OPEN at the former Lincoln Brass building in Waynesboro. Anyone who has any type of damage from the March 31-April 1 tornado is encouraged to come and meet with the recovery team for assistance.
The building is located at 309 Hurricane Meadows Drive in Waynesboro, just off Dexter Woods Memorial Boulevard. The hours of operation for the recovery center are Monday through Saturday, 7am – 7pm, and Sunday, 1pm – 7pm. The Disaster Recovery Center will be open as long as needed, but those needing assistance are encouraged to check in with the team as soon as possible in order to get the assistance process started.
