Mrs. Evelyn Devers Brewer, age 89, of Waynesboro, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday November 11, 2021. A lifelong resident of Wayne County, Evelyn was born as one of eleven children to Jim and Maggie Pearl Thompson Devers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Brewer, at an early age after 15 years of marriage in the 1950’s. She is also preceded in death by her siblings Linda Davis, Christine Agner, James Devers, and David Earl Devers.

Mrs. Brewer was a valued employee of Genesco for 38 years. She loved reading her Bible, bluegrass music, and cooking for gatherings of her large family. Evelyn was a devout member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church where she prepared monthly communion for 15 years, and was known by everyone simply as “Granny B.”

Evelyn is survived by her children Ronnie (Kathy) Brewer, James “Buddy” Brewer, Michael (Patricia) Brewer, Jenell (John) Knowles, and Carole (Michael) Stricklin. She is also survived by siblings Nelle (Bud) Jennings, Clara Marlinghaus, Anne (Phil) Wickersham, Bonnie (late Hershel) Riley, Joe (Glenda) Devers, and Tommy (Pat) Devers. Evelyn was a beloved Granny B to 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, with Bobbie Martin and Gary Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Methodist Church Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
