Ella Ruth Cole Flippo was born July 19, 1937 in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Roy Franklin and Mary Ann Pulley Cole. She was united in marriage to W.C. Flippo on June 27, 1958. Mr. Flippo preceded her in death on May 4, 2011. Mrs. Flippo departed this life at her home on October 29, 2020 in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 83 Years, 3 Months, 10 Days. Mrs. Flippo was a homemaker and babysitter for many years. She has also worked as a Girl Scout Leader and teacher at Green River Baptist Mother’s Day Out. She was a member of Green River Tabernacle where she taught Sunday School and Children’s Church for many years. She attended Canaan Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by son, Cleveland Flippo and wife Pam, daughter, Delores Ashworth, all of Waynesboro, TN; two grandchildren, Brianna Ashworth of Gallatin, TN, Christopher Flippo of Waynesboro, TN; a brother, Gilbert Cole, wife Lefan, and sister Patricia Long.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Flippo was preceded in death by son-in-law Wayne Ashworth; brothers, William Cole, Hardin Cole, and Paul David Cole; a grandchild, Ryan Ashworth.
Services were held on November 2, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro in Waynesboro, Tennessee with Danny Clark and Larry Janes officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Gardens at Waynesboro, Tennessee.
Visitation was held November 1 from 5:00 pm till 9:00 pm and November 2 from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro.
Pallbearers were Coridon Staggs, Justin Paul Davidson, Wayne Hicks, Dewayne Cole, Franklin Cole, and Christopher Flippo. Honorary pallbeares were Daniel Flippo, James William Flippo, Braxton Butler, Justice Bell, Leroy Gulley, and Justin Sanders.
