Donnie Elmont Thrasher was born April 2, 1944, the son of the late Rufus Curn and Florence Arnett Thrasher. Mr. Thrasher was a police officer with the Collinwood Police Department and worked also as a security guard. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, TN.
He was united in marriage to Sheila Ann Blalock on September 3, 1963. Mrs. Thrasher preceded him in death on May 9, 2020.
Mr. Thrasher departed this life on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 9 Months, 14 Days.
He is survived by two daughters, Christy Martin of Huntsville, AL, Sadonna Smith (Roger) of Waynesboro, TN; four grandchildren, Chesney York and husband Tyler, Cole Martin, Kennedy Smith, Jake Martin; great-granddaughter, Camila York.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Thrasher was preceded in death by his son-in-law Billy Martin; three brothers, Paul Thrasher, Sr., Bobby Thrasher, and Bill Thrasher; three sisters, Marpaline Jones, Margaret Dial, and Judy McNeese.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home in Collinwood, Tennessee, with John Dial and Chad Balentine officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Adam Rush. Shackelford Funeral Home is assisting the family. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 23, 2021, 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family is encouraging donations to be made to Boyd Cottages Activities Fund at 210 Fairlane Drive, Waynesboro, TN 38485.
