Wayne County News group publisher Daniel Richardson was named president of the Tennessee Press Association (TPA) during a virtual meeting of the board and membership on Friday, July 17.

Richardson has served on the board of directors for the organization for the last several years and participated in several special committees.

“I’m looking forward to serving Tennessee’s great newspapers in this role,” he said. “I’ve grown up in TPA and it is an honor to lead the organization.”

The Tennessee Press Association is the trade association of Tennessee’s daily and non-daily newspapers, and it is the parent organization of Tennessee Press Service and Tennessee Press Association Foundation. It was founded in 1870-71 for the purpose of creating a unified voice for the newspaper industry of Tennessee.

Today, TPA continues to provide assistance to its 126 member newspapers by monitoring legislative activities, providing training programs, issuing press credentials, maintaining a website and employment database, and providing regular meetings and forums to foster the exchange of information and ideas.

Daniel is the youngest son of Dennis and Lisa Richardson and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a 2012 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is married to Lena Richardson and the couple have three daughters: Emmalyn, 7, Elizabeth, 5, and Ella, 2.
