CoreCivic Update on COVID-19 Testing Results

   The Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in Hartsville, TN is reporting inmates previously confirmed as COVID-19 positive are recovering. As of Thursday, May 14, 99.4 percent of cases confirmed during targeted testing on April 21-23 and mass testing on April 28-29 have completed 14 days of isolation and showed no symptoms (1,291 of 1,299 cases).

   Of the remaining eight positive cases at the facility from the targeted and mass testing, six are asymptomatic and are expected to be released from isolation. An additional inmate remains hospitalized. Three inmates have passed away over the course of the pandemic, two of whom were hospitalized prior to facility testing. An autopsy has been requested for these individuals, and cause of death is pending a determination from the medical examiner.

    All 50 employees that tested positive for COVID-19 during mass testing on Wednesday, April 24, have also recovered without developing symptoms and are expected to be cleared by their healthcare providers to return to work.

    Mass testing of all staff and inmates at CoreCivic’s Hardeman County Correctional Facility (HCCF), Whiteville Correctional Facility (WCF) and South Central Correctional Facility (SCCF) in Clifton started Tuesday, May 5 and concluded Wednesday, May 13. Test results are provided daily from the lab and are shared with TDOC. Below is the updated testing information from SCCF as of 8:00 a.m. CDT on Friday, May 15:
