The City of Collinwood is once again decorated in the festive Christmas spirit, and everyone is invited to come out on Sunday to enjoy the annual Collinwood Christmas Parade.

The parade will begin to make its way through town at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12th. Lineup for the parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Collinwood Recreation Building. While the parade is getting lined up, the Shawnettee Church Choir will be performing Christmas songs in the Collinwood City Park beginning at 1:00 p.m. as well.

The theme for this year’s parade is “A Treasure of Christmas Memories.” The Collinwood Beautification Board has worked diligently once again to make the parade a great success. Churches, businesses, schools, and individuals have been hard at work on their floats, and there will once again be horses and antique cars to be shown off by their proud owners. Trophies will be awarded to the “Best in Show” for floats, cars, and tractors, based on their decorations and sticking to the parade theme.

The Grand Marshals for this year’s parade will be the Collinwood High School and Collinwood Middle School Girls’ Volleyball Teams. Coach Tesa Andrews began the girls’ volleyball program in Collinwood just a few years ago, and these young ladies are getting better and better all the time – keep an eye on Collinwood Girls’ Volleyball!

Of course, the Jolly Old Man himself, none other than Santa Claus, will make an appearance in the parade to let all the youngsters know that he does indeed know the way to Collinwood! The parade will be an excellent practice run for Mr. Claus as he gets ready for the big night – Christmas Eve!

Come on out on Sunday to add this fantastic parade to your “Treasure of Christmas Memories!”
