Clifton Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault

   Spencer Vance Deese, age 29, of Clifton, was arrested on Friday, April 30th on charges of aggravated assault, simple possession of schedule VI marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer Jeffery Poynter of the Clifton Police Department filed a report stating that he was dispatched on a 911 call to The Bear Inn. Upon his arrival, Officer Poynter made contact with Deese and James Kyle Wood. Mr. Wood stated that he had earlier come between Deese and a female who were in a verbal altercation, and told Deese to leave the female alone. Deese then allegedly punched Woods and threatened him with a knife. Investigator Steve Wilson filed an additional arrest warrant against Deese, which stated that Deese was wanted on an active arrest warrant for aggravated assault on July 6th, 2017. When Deese was arrested on April 30th, he was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Deese was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $52,500.00 bond.
