CHS Trojans & Trojanettes Fall to WCHS, Defeat FHS Lions on Senior Night

   To kick off a full week of home games for the Collinwood High School Trojans and Trojanettes, the “Teams in Green” faced the Wayne County Wildcats and Lady Cats on Tuesday, February 2. After a tough battle that went into overtime, the Trojanettes came up short against the Lady Cats and lost 62-67. AC Whitehead led the team in scoring with 24 points and had 3 rebounds. Alyssa Gray scored 14 points and had 6 rebounds, Sophie Gobbell had 11 points and 4 rebounds, Asia Kelly scored 8 points and had 11 rebounds, Harlee Haddock scored 5 points, Rhianna McWilliams had 2 rebounds, and Addie Quillen had 1 rebound.

   The Trojans also suffered a loss against the ‘Cats on Tuesday, 49-60. Joe Thompson led the team in scoring with 19 points, and Peyton Ward followed with 17 points. Cort Robertson scored 5 points, and Noah Haddock and Benson Blalock had 4 points each. 

   On Thursday, February 4, the Trojanettes faced Riverside Lady Panthers, and after overtime came out on top with a score of 59-53. Leading the team in scoring was AC Whitehead with 30 points and 7 rebounds. Asia Kelly scored 11 points and had 9 rebounds, Sophie Gobbell had 7 points and 2 rebounds, Harlee Haddock had 5 points and 2 rebounds, Alyssa Gray scored 4 points and had 2 rebounds, Addie Quillen had 2 points and 1 rebound, and Rhianna McWilliams had 2 rebounds.

   Next up on Thursday, the Trojans faced the Riverside Panthers. Unfortunately, the Trojans suffered another loss, coming up short with a score of 32-55. Dayton Scott led the team in scoring with 9 points. Benson Blalock followed closely behind with 8 points. Joe Thompson scored 6 points, Peyton Ward scored 2 points, Ethen Hinkey scored 2 points, Aidan Baskins scored 2 points, Joe Hensley scored 2 points, and Noah Haddock scored 1 point.

   Friday, February 5 the Trojanettes started off Senior Night facing off against the Frank Hughes Lady Lions. The Trojanettes finished on top by a score of 70-52.  Sophie Gobbell led the team in scoring with 15 points and had 4 rebounds, and AC Whitehead followed closely behind with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Asia Kelly scored 11 points and had 7 rebounds, Hayley Siems had 8 points and 3 rebounds, Harlee Haddock scored 8 points and had 2 rebounds, Addie Quillen had 6 points and 4 rebounds, Rhianna McWilliams scored 4 points and had 8 rebounds, Alyssa Gray had 4 points, Danlee Bray had 2 points and 1 rebound, and Hannah Risner had 1 rebound.

   The Trojans claimed the win against the Frank Hughes Lions by a score of 48-40. Peyton Ward led the team in scoring with 11 points. Carter Smith was right behind Ward with 10 points, Dayton Scott scored 8 points, Noah Haddock scored 8 points, Joe Thompson scored 4 points, Cort Robertson scored 3 points, Joe Hensley had 2 points, and Aidan Baskins had 2 points.

   Also on Friday, after collecting donations for two days, Clifton and Collinwood were able to donate a total of $1610 to the Janet Smith Foundation!
