CHS Trojans Season Ends at Perry County, Trojanettes Finish at McKenzie

   On Tuesday, February 23, the Collinwood High School Trojanettes hosted the Perry County Lady Vikings in District action. The Trojanettes won 41-29, which advanced them to the Regional Tournament. AC Whitehead led the team in scoring with 13 points and had 5 rebounds. Asia Kelly followed Whitehead with 11 points and had 10 rebounds. Sophie Gobbell scored 8 points and had 8 rebounds. Alyssa Gray had 7 points and 5 rebounds, Rhianna McWilliams had 2 points and 4 rebounds, Addie Quillen had 4 rebounds, and Harlee Haddock had 1 rebound. 

   The CHS Trojans traveled to Perry County to play the Vikings on Tuesday, taking a tough 41-52 loss which ended the Trojans’ seasons. Peyton Ward led the team in scoring with 15 points, and Aidan Baskins followed with 13 points. Dayton Scott scored 6 points, Benson Blalock scored 4 points, Carter Smith had 2 points, and Joe Thompson had 1 point. 

   The Trojanettes advanced to the first round of Regions and played at McKenzie on Friday, which resulted in a loss, 35-71. This ended the season for the girls. AC Whitehead led the team in scoring with 7 points and had 4 rebounds. Rhianna McWilliams scored 6 points and had 4 rebounds, Asia Kelly had 6 points and 5 rebounds, Hayley Siems had 6 points and 1 rebound, Harlee Haddock scored 3 points and had 2 rebounds, Sophie Gobbell had 2 points and 2 rebounds, Janie Hernandez scored 2 points, Addie Quillen had 2 points and 1 rebound, Alyssa Gray had 1 point and 3 rebounds, and Kaycee Luker had 1 rebound.

   The CHS Basketball teams expressed their thanks to all of the fans for always supporting them, especially during this unusual season. Good luck to all the Class of 2021 Seniors on all their future endeavors. Once a Trojan, Always a Trojan!—Submitted
