CHS Trojans and Trojanettes Have Big Week

   The Collinwood High School Trojans and Trojanettes played three games last week, seeing the Trojans go 2-1 and Trojanettes 3-0. The week started with the home contest against Hampshire, which resulted in wins for both teams. The Trojanettes were able to squeak by with a 55-48 win. Scoring for the Trojanettes were AC Whitehead with 17 points, Kristen Retherford with 15 points and 3 rebounds, Asia Kelly with 7 points and 12 rebounds, Emily Kautsky with 7 points and 5 rebounds, Harlee Haddock with 3 points, Alyssa Gray with 2 points and 4 rebounds, Hayley Siems with 2 points and 2 rebounds, Katie Robertson with 2 points, Sophie Gobbell with 3 rebounds, and Brylee Harris with 2 rebounds.

   The Trojans were able to run away from the Hawks with a big 65-40 victory. Scoring for the Trojans were Noah Hollis with 15 points, Dayton Scott with 10 points, Tucker Thompson with 8 points, Joe Houston Thompson with 7 points, Peyton Ward with 5 points, Aidan Baskins with 5 points, Dalton Chastain with 4 points, Bryan Rozinski with 4 points, Edward Dutton with 3 points, Carter Smith with 2 points, and Joe Hensley with 2 points.

   On Friday night, Collinwood hosted Lewis County. The Trojanettes started things with a 68-49 victory over the Lady Panthers with outstanding performances from Kristen Retherford who scored 27 points and had 3 rebounds, and Asia Kelly who scored 23 points and had 7 rebounds. Also scoring were AC Whitehead with 7 points and 4 rebounds, Emily Kautsky with 6 points and 6 rebounds, Sophie Gobbell with 5 points and 1 rebound, Hayley Siems with 2 rebounds, Alyssa Gray with 2 rebounds, and Brylee Harris, Harlee Haddock, and Katie Robertson with 1 rebound each.

   The Trojans struggled to get going offensively and fell 57-34 to the Panthers. Peyton Ward lead the scoring with 9 points, followed by Tucker Thompson with 5 points, Dalton Chastain with 4 points, Aidan Baskins with 4 points, Blair Holt with 3 points, Noah Hollis with 3 points, Joe Houston Thompson with 2 points, Dayton Scott with 2 points, and Carter Smith with 2 points.

   The teams had a quick turnaround when they traveled to Cornersville to play the Bulldogs on Saturday. However, both teams came away with big victories. The Trojanettes won 61-20 and the Trojans pulled out a 56-41 victory. Scoring for the Trojanettes were AC Whitehead with 14 points and 2 rebounds, Kristen Retherford with 13 points and 2 rebounds, Sophie Gobbell with 9 points and 4 rebounds, Harlee Haddock with 7 points and 2 rebounds, Asia Kelly with 6 points and 8 rebounds, Brylee Harris with 5 points and 3 rebounds, Rhianna McWilliams with 3 points, Katie Robertson with 2 points and 2 rebounds, Hayley Siems with 2 points and 1 rebound, and Alyssa Gray, Kaycee Luker, and Addie Quillen each with one rebound.

   Aidan Baskins lead the Trojans with 12 points followed by Noah Hollis with 9 points, Bryan Rozinski with 9 points, Joe Houston Thompson with 7 points, Dayton Scott with 6 points, Peyton Ward with 6 points, Tucker Thompson with 5 points, and Blair Holt with 2 points.

   It was a great week for Collinwood basketball as both teams were able to improve their record. The Trojanettes record now stands at 5-0 and the Trojans improved to 2-3. Both teams will look to improve on last week’s success as they will travel to Richland on Friday, December 13 for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff, and then travel to Lexington, AL on Monday, December 16 for a 5:00 p.m. tip.    Come out and support the Trojans and Trojanettes!—Submitted
