CHS Trojans and Trojanettes End Season After Region Defeats

   The Collinwood High School Trojans and Trojanettes were able to advance to the first round of regions last week. The Trojanettes played Huntingdon on Friday, and the Trojans played McKenzie on Saturday. Both teams were defeated, which resulted in an end to both their seasons. 

   On Friday, the Trojanettes traveled to Huntingdon. The Trojanettes had a great start to the game. The game stayed close throughout the first half with, with the Trojanettes only trailing by one point, 14-45. The score at the half was 21-27, Huntingdon. The Trojanettes were down 9 points at the end of the third quarter. After a few too many turnovers, the Trojanettes were unable to recover which resulted in a loss. The final score was 47-63. Leading the Trojanettes in scoring was Asia Kelly with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Also scoring for the Trojanettes were Kristen Retherford with 8 points and 1 rebound, AC Whitehead with 8 points and 5 rebounds, Emily Kautsky with 6 points and 4 rebounds, Sophie Gobbell with 5 points and 3 rebounds, Hayley Siems with 2 points, and Harlee Haddock with 1 point and 1 rebound. Brylee Harris had 1 rebound and Alyssa Gray had 2 rebounds. 

   The Trojans traveled to play McKenzie on Saturday. The Trojans were behind at the half, 20-51. The Trojans were unable to recover, which resulted in a loss for them as well. The final score was 45-82. Noah Hollis led the Trojans in scoring with 11 points. Also scoring for the Trojans were Tucker Thompson with 9 points, Dalton Chastain with 7 points, Dayton Scott, Peyton Ward, and Bryan Rozinski each with 5 points, Blair Holt with 2 points, and Aidan Baskins with 1 point. 

   The Trojans and Trojanettes will deeply miss our seniors. We wish them the best in their future endeavors… once a Trojan, always a Trojan!
