CHS Trojanettes Take Three Wins, Trojans Win Two

   On Monday, November 30, the Collinwood High School Trojanettes kicked off the season at Hampshire, led by their new head coach Ashlee Sherrill. The girls came out on top with a win, 58-45.  Leading the Trojanettes in points was Sophie Gobbell with 21 points, and she also had 7 rebounds. AC Whitehead followed Gobbell with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Rhianna McWilliams had 8 points and 2 rebounds, Asia Kelly had 6 points and led the team in rebounds with 12, and Harlee Haddock scored 6 points and had 2 rebounds. Addie Quillen also had 2 rebounds.

   The Trojans also kicked off their season at Hampshire that resulted in a win with a score of 55-49. Joe Thompson led the team with a total of 22 points and Peyton Ward followed with 13 points. Noah Haddock scored 8 points, Aidan Baskins finished out the game with 5 points, Dayton Scott followed closely behind with 4 points, and Benson Blalock scored 3 points.

   After Monday night’s game, there was very little time to celebrate the win. On Tuesday, the Trojans hosted Scotts Hill and suffered a loss, 46-58. Joe Thompson led the Trojans again with 14 points, and his teammate Dayton Scott followed closely behind with 12 points. Carter Smith and Aidan Baskins each scored 6 points, Peyton Ward scored 5 points, Noah Haddock with 2 points, and Cort Robertson had 1 point. 

   Friday, December 4, the Trojanettes hosted their first home game against Mt. Pleasant. The girls won the game with a score of 60-33. AC Whitehead led the team in scoring with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Following Whitehead was Asia Kelly with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Sophie Gobbell with 10 points and 3 rebounds, Harlee Haddock also had 10 points, Rhianna McWilliams had 7 points and 3 rebounds, Alyssa Gray with 4 points and 5 rebounds, Hayley Siems had 2 points and 1 rebound, and Hannah Risner had 2 points. Kaycee Luker had 2 rebounds, and Addie Quillen had 1 rebound. 

   The Trojans traveled to Lewis County on Friday night that resulted in a loss, 49-74. Kelsey Moore and Benson Blalock led the team in scoring, each having 8 points, and Aidan Baskins followed closely scoring a total of 7 points. Joe Hensley scored 5 points, Edward Dutton and Landon Lovelace each scored 4 points, Dayton Scott, Peyton Ward, and Noah Haddock each scored 3 points, and Cort Robertson and Hunter Burns each had 2 points. 

   Both teams had to quickly recover from Friday’s games and gear up for Saturday night. The Trojanettes kicked off the night facing the Waterloo Lady Cougars. Asia Kelly led the team in scoring and rebounds with 16 points and 12 rebounds. AC Whitehead followed with 13 points and 4 rebounds. Rhianna McWilliams finished the game with 10 points and 3 rebounds, Harlee Haddock had 8 points and 1 rebound, Janie Hernendez scored 5 points, Alyssa Gray had 4 points and 1 rebound, Kaycee Luker had 2 points and 1 rebound, Addie Quillen had 1 point and 2 rebounds, and Hannah Risner had 1 rebound.

   To finish out the night, the Trojans had a victory over the Waterloo Cougars with a score of 63-41. Peyton Ward led the team with 14 points, and Aidan Baskins followed with 11 points. Dayton Scott scored 9 points, Edward Dutton, Cort Robertson, Joe Hensley, and Noah Haddock each had 5 points, Benson Blalock scored 4 points, Carter Smith had 3 points, and Kelsey Moore had 2 points.—Submitted
