Blake Lee Barkley, age 23, of Lutts, Tennessee, was arrested on Thursday, April 23rd after fleeing from an attempted traffic stop on April 18th and resisting arrest on April 22nd. The initial report filed by Deputy Austin Lanier on April 18th stated that Deputy Lanier observed Barkley driving on Big Cypress Road, and the deputy was aware that Barkley had a revoked driver’s license. When Deputy Lanier attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Barkley allegedly began to drive in a reckless manner, running a stop sign and endangering other drivers. Deputy Lanier was given instructions to terminate the pursuit based on the fact that he could positively identify Barkley as the driver. On Wednesday, April 22nd, Deputy Spencer Ray was attempting to serve arrest warrants on Barkley, and Barkley allegedly ran away on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Deputy Ray was able to apprehend Barkley, but Barkley resisted the arrest and refused to comply. After Barkley was arrested, officers allegedly found him to be in possession of a pouch containing multiple syringes, one of which was “loaded;” a plastic baggie containing approximately 3.9 grams of methamphetamine, and a digital scale. Barkley was charged with driving on a revoked license, felony evading arrest, and two counts of reckless endangerment in connection with the incident on April 18th; and resisting arrest, evading arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacture/deliver/sell/possession of methamphetamine in connection with the incident on April 22nd. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail with no bond.
