Mr. Billy Wayne Hawkins was born April 19, 1943 in Oak Grove, Louisiana, the son of the late Columbus Washington and Selma Walker Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a retired pipeline welder for Pipeline Union 798, Tulsa, OK. Bill had welded pipelines across the country and some foreign countries. He was a member of the Waynesboro Church of God, Waynesboro Lodge # 127, Woodmen of the World and Pipeliner’s Local Union 798, Tulsa, OK. He was united in marriage to Mary Alice Hale on February 10, 1962.Mr. Hawkins departed this life on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 77 Years, 11 Months, 22 Days.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Alice Hale Hawkins a son, Billy Chadwick Hawkins, two daughters, Pamela Denise Hawkins Tidwell, all of Waynesboro, TN, and Lisa Rene Hawkins Haire of Epps, LA; grandchildren, Justin Griggs, Heather Malugen, Candace Shanes, Brandy Burks, Jordan Horton, Nicholas Horton and Logan Horton; great-grandchildren, Cheyene Malugen, Emory Malugen, Rhett Malugen, Audrey Shanes, Beau Shanes, Josey Griggs, Savannah Griggs, Ava Kate Burks, Tucker Burks, Jaxon Horton, Charlie Horton, and baby Malugen to be; a brother, Donald Ray Hawkins, Sr. of Bastrop, LA; two sisters, Betty Rice of Denver City, TX, Dorothy Evans of Benton, LA.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter William Hawkins, Charles Joseph Hawkins, Columbus Washington Hawkins, Jr., Johnny Marvin Hawkins, Willie Payne Hawkins (his twin), Ann Causey, Rena Mae Frazier, Willie Mae Hawkins, Linda Gayle Hawkins.
Services were held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Tommy Burke and Dusty Malugen officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
Those serving as pallbearers included Chad Frazier, Jordan Horton, Logan Horton, Braden Littleton, Tyler Butler, and Justin Griggs. Those serving as honorary pallbearers included Tim Griggs, Donald Ray Hawkins, Jr., Larry Overstreet, and Stan Bromley.
