Alabama Woman Arrested on Drug Charges in Wayne County

   Kathy Michelle Pennington, age 50, of Killen, Alabama, was arrested on Friday, September 25^th on charges of possession of schedule II with intent to resale and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer Jonathan Kelly of the Waynesboro Police Department filed a report stating that he responded to a call of a green Ford Explorer swerving all over the road. When Officer Kelly made contact with the vehicle, it was allegedly failing to maintain its lane, so a traffic stop was performed. Officer Kelly requested K9 backup, and the K9 allegedly “hit” on the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a non-prescribed pill bottle containing 19 pills identified as morphine inside Pennington’s purse. Also allegedly located in the purse were two syringes and a metal spoon. Pennington was arrested and booked into the Wayne County Jail on $35,000.00 bond.
