   Hello Wayne County,

My name is Megan Harris and I am the new Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent for Wayne County. I am honored to serve such an amazing community. I am originally from Germantown, TN. Although I was raised in the suburbs, my childhood was ultimately shaped by my time spent outdoors. My family and I spent most of our weekends in the Hatchie River bottoms – camping, hunting, and fishing, all of which are activities I still greatly enjoy. I graduated with a B.S. degree in Animal Science from Middle Tennessee State University. I worked for MTSU’s Dairy farm as one of two Student Farm managers while completing my undergraduate studies. My time on MTSU’s Dairy, Beef, and Swine farms in conjunction with my undergraduate studies and extracurricular activities have allowed me to experience many aspects of agriculture, including livestock management, beef production, dairy production, poultry production, livestock reproduction and genetics, grazing systems, hay production, showing beef/dairy cattle, pigs and sheep, controlled breeding programs, and milk processing.

Upon graduating from MTSU, my husband and I moved to his family farm in the Deerfield community of Lawrence County to start a cattle operation. We currently run a small commercial cow/calf herd.

I was told Wayne County would be a joy to work for, and I can see why. The hospitality and warm welcomes have been overwhelming. For those of you I haven’t met yet, please don’t hesitate to stop by or call. I’d love to meet you! I am excited to be here and I’m greatly looking forward to serving this county for years to come.
