Students who are currently a Sophomore or Junior in high school may apply to attend the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Agriculture Sciences to be hosted at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate an active interest in the agricultural sciences. The deadline for applications to be submitted or postmarked is no later than December 1. If the student is accepted, the opportunity is free of charge – the only monetary responsibilities will be travel to and from UT Martin.

Outside classroom instruction, the students in the 2019 class participated in overnight field trips to Nashville and Knoxville; tours of great sites like the Tosh Farm Swine facility, Tyson Food facility, the Tennessee State Capitol, the University of Tennessee Center for Veterinary Medicine, Neyland Stadium, and much more.

This is an amazing opportunity for students who are considering a degree in agriculture.  Students who successfully complete TGSAS will earn 3 hours of college credit, which is transferrable to other state institutions.  Students will stay in a UTM dormitory while on campus, or in system approved hotels during chaperoned and supervised overnight trips.

Applications and more information about this activity can be found at http://www.utm.edu/departments/tgsas.
