Shirley Dean Kiddy Gothard passed from this life on May 21, 2021 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 82.
Shirley was born September 27, 1938 in Decaturville, TN to John Alvin Kiddy and Annie Webster Kiddy. She graduated from Dixie High School in Lake City, Arkansas in 1957, and attended the University of Texas El Paso.
She married the love of her life, Winston Bruce Gothard, Sr., in 1958, and they made their home in Clifton for almost 40 years.
Shirley worked for several years at Hickory Hills Manufacturing in Clifton. Her last job was the one in which she found the most joy — working in the Frank Hughes School cafeteria. Shirley loved to love on people. She was so proud to be a “lunch lady.” This job suited her servant heart.
Left to mourn her loss were her husband, Winston Bruce Gothard, Sr. of Clifton, TN, daughter Debi Hart and husband Les of Mont Belvieu, TX, daughter Anna Buswell and husband Bruce of Angleton, TX, special niece Sonya Baker and husband Terry, Clifton, TN, and her youngest sister, Brenda Burnette of Paragould, AR.
She had a deep love for her grandchildren, Erica Alcala, Heather Alcala, Laney Hebert, Kinsley Hebert along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, a son, Winston Bruce Gothard II and sisters Bonnie Rogers, Dorothy McDonald, Rotha Nell Hill, Marie Lynch, Martha Mothershed, and her brother John Wesley Kiddy.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 at the Frank Hughes School cafeteria, Clifton, TN.
The family wishes to thank the staff at AHC Savannah in Savannah, TN, where Shirley had been under hospice care with Tennessee Quality Healthcare.
