A Hohenwald resident contacted the Hohenwald Police Department on January 24, 2021 to report that her 2002 Mercedes-Benz SUV had been stolen from her mother’s residence on Smith Avenue. The vehicle was later discovered wrecked on Highway 13 South in Wayne County by Collinwood Police Officer Nick Horton. Collinwood Investigator Dale Palmer confirmed that the vehicle struck a TVEC power pole, and the driver then abandoned the vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle stated that she had left her mother’s residence to spend time with a friend, but used her mother’s car instead of her own and when she returned around 1 p.m., her vehicle was missing. After checking the security cameras, she said she saw what she believed to be a white male wearing a gray hoodie entering the rear door of the vehicle, then getting in front, starting the vehicle and driving off. She also reported two Amazon tablets and miscellaneous clothing were in the vehicle.
After viewing the video footage, the white male was identified by law enforcement as Robert “Peanut” McCullough. Warrants were issued for his arrest. As of press time, the Hohenwald Police Department confirmed that McCullough is still at large.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts or other information is asked to contact the Hohenwald Police Department at 931-796-3223.
