Now that we have all rested up from the Tractor Pull and Old Timers’ Day, let’s get ready for our last three events of the year! We aren’t finished yet! With our fall decorations out, it’s time to get ready for our Halloween festivities. The Darkness V is coming on October 31st (Halloween Day) at the Collinwood Recreation Building at 5:00 p.m. Get ready for some screaming, spooky music, trunk or treat, costume contest, maybe a haunted ghost walk, and lots of candy! The public is invited to come out and enjoy a wonderfully frightful evening. For more information, call any Collinwood Beautification Board member.
Then, the first Sunday in December, (the 6th), brings “Christmas in the ‘Wood” arts and crafts to town. Doors open from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., so come out and support our hometown vendors. It will be a great chance to do some Christmas gift shopping from our local crafters. For more information, call Peggy Chambers at 931-724-9918 or 931-212-9016.
Our last event for the year will be our Sunday evening Christmas Parade. The parade theme this year is “Together for Christmas.” Lineup will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the parade beginning at 2:00 p.m. Our oldies radio host, Chuck Koblentz, will be honoring us as Grand Marshal this year! Be sure and bring the children to see Santa as he makes his way through Collinwood! Call Jerdie Ayers at 931-722-1099 for more information.
We are also working closely with John Allen Berry and Sherrie Powers to bring the “Wonderland of Trees” back to the Wayne County Welcome Center in December. We will have more information in November. Your support is needed to make our events happen!
