Wayne County Commission Meets in Special Session

   The Wayne County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, June 29th, 2020 for the purpose of approving the Continuing Budget Resolution, which allows the county to continue operating under the 2019-2020 budget until the 2020-2021 budget is finalized. County Executive Jim Mangubat presided over the meeting, and commissioners in attendance were Tom Mathis, Tim Powell, Vickie Petty, Sherrie Powers, David Martin, Tim Prater, Joe Hall, John McDonald, Stephen Pevahouse, Mary Lauren Garner, and Rickey Kelley. Also present were County Clerk Stan Horton, County Attorney Andy Yarbrough, and Sheriff Shane Fisher. Commissioners Herbert Brewer, Phillip Casteel, and Kathryn Staggs were absent.

   Commissioner Kelley made a motion to approve the commission minutes from the previous meeting as presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Prater and was passed unanimously.

   Commissioner Kelley made a motion to approve the various committee minutes as presented. Commissioner Prater seconded the motion, and the committee minutes were approved.

   County Clerk Horton next presented Jennie Roberts and Aaron Mace to serve as a notaries. Commissioner Powell made a motion to approve, and Commissioner Prater seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

   Commissioner Mathis then made a motion to approve the Continuing Budget Resolution, allowing the county to continue operating under the fiscal year 2019-2020 budget until the fiscal year 2020-2021 budget is finalized. Commissioner Kelley seconded the motion, and it was passed unanimously.

   Commissioner Kelley made a motion to approve the fiscal year 2019-2020 budget amendments as presented. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Prater, and passed unanimously.

   With no further business on the agenda for the special meeting, Commissioner Powers made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Powell seconded the motion, and the meeting was adjourned.
