The Waynesboro City Commission met in regular session on Monday, November 25th, 2019 at City Hall in Waynesboro. All commissioners were in attendance, including Mayor Jeff Howell, Vice Mayor Charlie Mosley, Commissioner Chris Bevis, Commissioner Jeff Davis, and Commissioner Tony Creasy. City Manager John Hickman, City Attorney Josh Polk, and City Recorder Paige Jackson were in attendance as well.
Mayor Howell called the meeting to order, and Commissioner Davis offered the invocation.
Commissioner Creasy first made a motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Commissioner Bevis seconded the motion, and the minutes were approved.
City Manager Hickman gave the commission a few brief updates, including:
-all of the city’s Christmas decorations have been put up, including the last batch of light pole decorations purchased this year;
-the water line project near Piggly Wiggly is almost complete;
-City Hall will be closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
With no items of new business on the agenda, the meeting went directly to open items. Vice Mayor Mosley inquired about when the street paving projects would begin, and City Manager Hickman said that Rogers Group informed him that they hoped to finish the street paving by the end of the week if weather permits.
Mayor Howell told the commission that Walter Smith and some of his contacts in the music industry are still working on lining up performers for the Independence Day Celebration coming up next summer.
With no further business to come before the commission, Commissioner Bevis made a motion to adjourn. Vice Mayor Mosley seconded the motion, and the meeting was adjourned.
