On Friday, February 13, 2015 former Special Agent, Rick Stout from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spoke to an interested group at the Waynesboro Courthouse on the problem of human trafficking in Tennessee, including Wayne County. The meeting was sponsored by The TN Dept. of Labor & Workforce Development and a lunch was provided by Fast Pace Urgent Care.
According to information from the State Comptroller's office, Wayne County received a reimbursement from their insurance carrier in August 2014 totaling $149,500.00. The reimbursement stemmed from charges filed against a former employee of the Wayne County Board of Education in August 2014.
The Wayne County Board of School Commissioners met in regular session at 5:30 P.M. on February 12, 2015 in the Board Room at the Central Office with all members present with the exception of Patrick Blackburn. Chairman Barry Han-back called the meeting to order and invited those in attendance to participate in a moment of silence and the pledge to the flag.
